8 Hair Loss Treatment Methods

The treatment of hair loss depends on the clear expression of the causative agent. The cause should be investigated with a multidisciplinary approach and diagnosed through joint studies of dermatology, internal medicine, and endocrine specialists. If hair loss has emerged as a symptom of the disease, after the treatment of this disease, new hair will be replaced. The hair that is shed when the cell division is at its fastest in the anagen period often grows completely back.

The cosmetics care products and hair masks used for the health or good looks of the hair not only affect the hair follicles, but also the hair strands. However, the hair is fed under the scalp, that is from the follicles. The nutrients that we receive from food reach the follicles through the blood and make hair grow and look healthy. A regular and balanced diet program, if the body does not have a problem with synthesizing nutrients, is sufficient to provide the protein, vitamins, and minerals that the hair needs. In cases where nutrition is not given enough importance, it is not possible to benefit from the cosmetics used for treatment. In this case, cosmetic products do not eliminate the problem. Moreover, it causes other problems caused by harmful chemicals.

Surgical treatment methods, which are becoming more common in recent years, are considered as the last option when hair loss continues after the main reason for hair loss is diagnosed and treated.

There is no best treatment method since all treatments are applied to different conditions. I will give information about all known hair loss treatment methods.

Medications Used to Treat Hair Loss

  • Minoxidil: Minoxidil, which is used as a blood pressure reducer, has been started to be used in hair loss treatments after its hair growing feature is recognized. There are varieties of lotion, spray, and ampoules available to use. The most commonly used form is 2% in women and 5% in men as a spray or lotion. Minoxidil should be used regularly, interruption of treatment causes the hair to be fall again. Treatment should be continued for at least 6 to 12 months.

  • Finasteride: It is used only in the treatment of hair loss in men. Finasteride also begins to show effects at least one year after use, the hair loss can occur again when the drug is discontinued.

Hair Mesotherapy For Hair Loss

Experts state that the most successful and lasting results of hair loss treatment methods can be reached with hair mesotherapy. Thanks to this method, hair loss can be slowed down and hair becomes healthier. Hair mesotherapy treatment increases the durability of the existing hair as well as preventing hair loss.

This method can be used as a supportive treatment in cases of hormonal and genetic hair loss. The mixture applied in the mesotherapy method can be planned according to the needs of the person. As it is applied to eliminate the deficiencies needed for the development of hair, it allows having voluminous, bulky and shiny hair.

In mesotherapy, the missing structures are transferred in small doses and directly to the hair follicles. This method has almost no side effects. Even if a side effect occurs, it fades away within a very short period of time. There is no long-term side effect. The drugs used are administered locally and in small doses. The results of hair mesotherapy are very fast and effective. There is no inconvenience to be applied to younger people who have hair loss problems.

Hair mesotherapy is recommended for people who have hair loss problems, thinning and dilution in their hair. Thanks to these treatments, the weakened hair follicles are renewed and revitalized and the hair follicles are strengthened. Mesotherapy technique is one of the most widely used treatment methods among clinical treatments.

In general, it should be applied together with hair thermotherapy and a special head massage. As in hair thermotherapy, the hair is softened by an ozonized steam and made suitable for mesotherapy. Therefore, the feeling of pain in the scalp can be reduced considerably. On the other hand, hair mesotherapy without hair thermotherapy is a more painful procedure.

After thermotherapy, a special mixture of vitamins, minerals, keratolytic agents, minoxidil, circulation enhancers, and local anesthetics is formed. This mixture is transferred into the hair mesotherapy gun. Hair mesotherapy gun is controlled by a computer. The area where the gun is to be applied and the dosage of the drug to be injected is adjusted. In this way, overdose is prevented and the drug is transferred to the appropriate area. After all these adjustments are made, the drug is distributed to the scalp with the gun.

Hair mesotherapy can be applied in the following cases:

• Stress-induced hair loss,
• Seasonal hair loss,
• Metabolic induced hair loss,
• Alopecia Areata,
• Ringworms,
• Genetic male hair loss,
• Sudden hair loss after pregnancy.
• It can also be applied to hair loss due to all other reasons.

It is impossible for the person to feel any pain or ache during the application. Therefore, it is a very successful method that can be applied to every age group. Hair mesotherapy is a treatment technique applied per session. Each session lasts approximately 40 minutes. The first 4 sessions are administered once a week and the last 4 sessions are administered twice a month. The time interval between sessions should be 11 days in the first 4 sessions, and 22 days in the last 4 sessions.

PRP Therapy For Hair Loss

PRP is the process of disintegrating the plasma by a special procedure and giving it back to the body by injection after a small amount of blood is taken from the person’s body. The resulting plasma is rich in cells called platelets. Platelets, the main function of which is to provide blood clotting, has an important role in wound healing thanks to the growth factors they contain. In cosmetic dermatology, in addition to skin rejuvenation, PRP treatment, which is also used in the treatment of scars, stretch marks, hair loss, and orthopedic treatment, provides a completely natural rejuvenation without giving any foreign substances or drugs to the body.

Daily hair loss of 100-150 strands is considered normal. If there is more than that, hair loss should be taken seriously. PRP also provides successful results in hair treatment. It was determined that patients had very effective results, especially in hair loss. During the PRP procedure, the patient’s own blood is taken and passed through a device. Here, the part called fibroblast, which will feed the follicles, and provide development will be separated and injected into the bald area. This method is particularly effective in genetic hair losses. Hair mesotherapy can also be applied in combination with PRP for those having genetic hair loss.

For PRP, 10 cc is taken from the patient’s venous blood (1/10 of 1 tea glass). The centrifuged blood is divided into white and red blood. Red blood contains white blood cells, platelets, clotting factors, and PGF (Platelet growth factor). After the red blood is subjected to special treatment, it is injected into the related area by the napage method. The basis of this application lies behind tissue regeneration. While the hair treatment with PRP lasts 30 minutes, there is no pain during the application. There are no traces of PRP and the person can continue his/her routine life immediately.

Hair treatment with PRP is administered for a maximum of 30 minutes every 15 days and usually lasts 3-4 months. After that, it will be enough to apply once a year. The most important advantage of this method is that since the specific plasma is derived from the patient’s own blood, it does not carry the risk of allergy.

PRP is a treatment that should be applied by specialist doctors. First, the blood taken from the patient is placed in a special tube under sterile conditions. The blood is then placed in a tube containing gel. The substances in the blood in the centrifuge tube are decomposed within 5-8 minutes. The rich plasma part of the blood containing platelets and growth factors is separated. The obtained mixture is applied to the area related to the injection method.

Stem Cell Hair Loss Treatment

Our hair is an essential part of an effective image. It falls over time, and a dull, dilute and matte appearance is obtained. The main reason for all these is the inadequate feeding of our hair follicles. It means the cells that feed the hair follicles do not respond to the need.

Stem cell technology, which grows like an avalanche in skin renewal, gives positive results when it comes to hair as well. If your hair falls out, looks weak and lifeless, stem cell therapy is a treatment method that can be applied to both women and men.

Firstly, the condition of the person’s hair is analyzed, and the extent of the dilution is checked. According to this, specialists can decide on how much stem cells are needed. The stem cell-rich fatty tissues taken from the person himself/herself. After 1 to 2 hours of apheresis, the stem cells decompose. Then, with the help of mini injectors, these stem cells are injected into the hair follicles. You will not feel any pain during the operation under local anesthesia.

The stem cell hair treatment, which is frequently preferred by women, is proof of the need for care of our hair. The results after stem cell therapy are:

  • Preventing hair loss.
  • Strengthening of the hair follicles.
  • Enriching the cells that feed the hair follicles.
  • Accelerating hair growth.
  • Removing the matte appearance of the hair.

Growth Factor Hair Loss Treatment

Hair loss is a situation that most people often experience. There are many environmental and genetic reasons for this situation. Rapidly developing technologies and methods in hair treatments make it possible to fight against this problem. The growth factor is also one of the most effective methods of hair treatment.

It is a cure that contains 33 different active substances within the growth factor which is an approved treatment with clinical trials. It contains various minerals and vitamins needed by the hair follicles. This curing provides vitality to the hair and helps the new ones to replace the lost hair.

The growth factor is applied by specialized physicians firstly by opening microchannels in the scalp, and then letting the scalp absorb it via these channels. The session lasts an average of 15 minutes.

During the application, no pain is felt, and you can continue your daily life easily. The growth factor applied at a total of 4 sessions at 2-week intervals enables the hair follicles to be strengthened and the new hair to grow. The growth factor that can be applied to every woman and man according to the need is an application which can also be preferred for other parts of the body such as beard and eyebrow.

Hair Loss Treatment with Botox

There may be many different causes of hair loss. Whether the person has a metabolic disorder should definitely be investigated. Polycystic ovarian disease, iron deficiency, anemia, hormonal disorders, and stress are the leading ones. An average of 50-100 strand hair loss per day is considered normal, the increase in this amount or dilution of the hair as much as the scalp can be seen indicates a disease that requires treatment.

Any hair loss which has a known cause can be stopped. New hair formation can be achieved with treatment. The results are usually seen after 3 months. At the end of 6 months, 60-90% improvement is achieved.

Botox eliminates two major causes of hair loss. One of these is the narrowing of the vein walls in the head due to stress and, therefore, the inability to feed the hair follicles. The other one is Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is seen as the most important factor that is responsible for hair loss.

Botox also prevents the contractions of the vessels by loosening the muscles in the area of application. Thus, blood circulation is regulated in the scalp and oxygenation increases. This provides a better feeding of the hair follicles and strengthens the hair fibers.

DHT hormone, which is also responsible for hair loss, is a powerful metabolite hormone of testosterone formed by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. The lower the oxygen content in the environment, the more DHT is produced. At this point, botox, which is applied at regular intervals to the scalp, increases oxygen in the environment, inhibits the formation of DHT from Testosterone and converts Testosterone to estradiol. Thus, a significant reaction causing hair loss is prevented.

Botox application may be sufficient in the treatment according to the condition of the patient and the cause of hair loss. The success rates of hair mesotherapy and hair GRP processes, which can also be applied in hair loss and have successful results, are increased to 100% when combined with botox application.

The main factor in this is that botox helps most of the active substances reach the hair follicles by expanding the vessels. It can be safely applied to anyone suffering from hair loss.

Auto Hair Cloning (ACELL + PRP) Treatment For Hair Loss

ACell + PRP is a special formula for intercellular communication and created for use in the treatment of hair problems. Its content is a combination of an extracellular matrix, vitamins, medicine, and PRP. The extracellular matrix is a product that triggers tissue production by recombining cells together. This product is certified by FDA with 510k certificate. This means that the product is effective and reliable.

Today, a large number of people have hair loss problems. Stress, various vitamin deficiencies, inadequate and unbalanced nutrition, various chronic diseases and genetic factors are the main reasons for this. The formula, ACell + PRP, has a very positive effect on regenerating and improving tissue using the modeling method of the stem cell. In addition, since it helps to increase the quality of hair to prevent further shedding in the future, it is a very effective method. In hair-loss patients, it provides hair treatment by providing a great amount of support. It is a formula that affects the success of hair transplantation thanks to the wound healing feature both in the preparation stage and during hair transplantation.

In the treatment of ACell + PRP, a solution is obtained by mixing various vitamins and specially formulated drugs with the PRP obtained from the patient’s own blood. The reason for this is to accelerate the production of new tissue by activating inactive stem cells and growth factors that are present in the blood. This app takes one hour in total. Injection and microneedle are applied only as one session. Local anesthesia is applied to prevent pain and aches. In patients who are allergic to local anesthesia or with a phobia, sedation can be performed. Stimulating the stem cell growth factors from the patient’s own blood, the treatment is ensured to provide benefits as soon as possible. As a result, the existing follicles become stronger and healthier, while the dead ones are modeled to increase hair production.

This treatment, which has been used in the United States since 2008 and has been continuously developed, is evaluated separately in each patient since it varies from person to person. If it is deemed necessary, there is no inconvenience to reapply after one year in order to increase the benefit obtained. Hair growth begins after the first four months. Because the first effect of ACell + PRP is not to grow hair but to make the hair loss completely stopped. After this stage, the hair begins to form slowly. This formula first helps to strengthen the healthy cells, then increases the number of these cells with the help of modeling method. Therefore the first effect is to stop the hair loss.

The FDA approved that this treatment method used in the United States has no side effects. Thanks to this formula, the region where hair transplantation treatment is applied are healed faster. A significant increase in hair density was observed in the ACell + PRP treated area according to the evaluation of case studies as well as clinical trials. It provides more hair in the area where hair transplantation is performed. It is also very effective in obtaining stronger and healthier hair.

Regenera Activa (Autologous Micrograft) to Treat Hair Loss

The principle of Regenera Activa hair treatment is to provide the ingredients necessary to treat our own hair follicles. For this reason, Regenera Activa is also called Autologous Micrograft. It is an effective and reliable method to combat many hair loss problems, especially male pattern hair loss.

Autologous micrograft method can be applied only if the problem of hair loss is not caused by an infection. It is used to support and stimulate hair growth and prevent hair loss caused by hair dyeing applications and frequent hairdressing operations. The aim of the treatment is to obtain the growth factors and progenitor stem cells from our own tissues, which are necessary to make the weakened hair follicles look healthier.

In this method, the tissue in the hairy area behind the ear which is coded not to be shed genetically is used. The pain is not felt as the whole procedure is performed under local anesthesia. In autologous micrograft procedure, 3 to 4 hair follicles are taken from the area behind the ear by a special method. In this case, these follicles are converted to special cell suspension by the regenera activa system. In this way, a hair treatment that has the effect of increasing the cell renewal from our hair follicles can be prepared.

The prepared suspension is injected into the scalp with injection. Hair growth is achieved through the regenerative effect and growth factors of the hair follicle and tissue inside the donor region. Treatment of permanent hair loss is hair transplantation. Regenera Activa is the alternative for hair transplantation treatment. The growth factors and progenitor cells needed by the newly transplanted hair are provided with this treatment. Hair grows much faster and stronger.

The positive results of this treatment from our own cells begin to show up after the third month. All positive results and developments can be observed in the 6th month. Advantages of this treatment are:

  • Revives the weakened hair.
  • Maintains the quality of existing hair.
  • In general, thinner hair becomes thicker and it makes hair look voluminous.
  • Provides hair growth by awakening the sleeping hair cells.
  • While it strengthens the donor area before hair transplantation, it also increases the success rate after the procedure.
  • In post-hair transplantation application, it helps to increase the recovery rate after the transplantation period and to increase the output and quality of the new hair.
